Flinsch, Ferdinand

Flinsch, Ferdinand Traugott. Papiergroßhändler und -fabrikant. * 19.8.1792 (Rosenthal-)Blankenberg am Rennsteig, † 11.11.1849 Leipzig.

Aus alter Papiermacherfamilie.
Begründer der Firma „Ferdinand Flinsch“ in Leipzig (1819), in die er seine Brüder Heinrich und Carl August F. (1799-1877) als Teilhaber aufnahm. Das Unternehmen zeichnete sich durch seinen völlig neuartigen Großhandelscharakter (Versorgung des Verlagsbuchhandels mit Papier in ausreichenden Mengen und in planmäßiger Standardisierung ohne Zeitverlust) aus und konnte bald um einige Filialen erweitert werden. So errichtete F. 1827 ein Papierlager in Offenbach, das sein Bruder Heinrich F. leitete. 1828 wurde das Lager nach Ffm. umgezogen und mit einer Schriftgießerei verbunden. Förderte die Entwicklung der industriellen Papierherstellung in Deutschland. Betrieb eine der ersten Papiermaschinen in Deutschland (seit 1834 in Penig, seit 1841 auch in Blankenberg). Das maschinell hergestellte Papier wurde unter der Firma „Patentpapierfabrik zu Penig“ weltbekannt.
Nach F.s Tod trennten sich das Leipziger Stammhaus und die Ffter Filiale.
