Tabor, Johann August

Tabor, Johann August. Waldeckischer Hofrat. Kaufmann. Bankier. * 14.9.1731 Ffm., † 1.4.1814 Ffm.
Sohn des Mediziners Gerhard T. (1694-1742).
Zunächst in Diensten des waldeckischen Hofs. Seit 1768 leitete T. die vom Vater ererbte Holzhandlung „Gerhard Tabors seel. Erben“, die er zunehmend mit Bankgeschäften verband. Übernahm Niederlassungen der Würzburger Spiegelglasfabrik und der Glashüttenwerke im Spessart, deren Direktor er seit 1788 war. Von 1782 bis 1792 fungierte T. als Pächter des neuerbauten Ffter Stadttheaters und führte somit die Verhandlungen mit den maßgeblichen Dichtern und Schauspielern seiner Zeit (u. a. Schiller und Iffland).
T. bewohnte das im Rokokostil erbaute Haus zur Hangenden Hand in der Saalgasse sowie ein Landhaus bei Rüsselsheim.
